However, two specimen were actually a deep, true black color!! A few of the juvenile blooms still had a red tint, so I made sure to video and photograph them. Almost all of the others were outstandingly dark and we thought they were very odd!\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIf these seeds hit the ground, germinate, and grow a bit before the frost, they are likely to return the following year to open up and show off. I sow anytime between April and August and get the same results each summer. Usually they make a nice tuber underground and return year after year. Most will not act like biennials as long as they get enough sun and nutrients. This assortment was from seed I collected from a group of hollyhocks that bloomed this summer (all summer).
